DISCUSSION (16SEP2025 EMS | 18SEP2025 CMS)
Learn about how astronomy began. From the geocentric to the heliocentric model of our star system, to learning how light spectroscopy can be used to interpret what lies beyond our own planet. Our applied hacking will explore how to determine the circumference of the Earth using nothing more than a stick on the playground and a tape measure. During the discussion, students will learn how to take measurements which we will use during our applied hacking session to determine the circumference of the Earth and a very interesting surprise awaits.
Time permitting, we will also begin a discussion on general relativity, the speed of light, time travel, and worm holes
APPLIED HACKING (23SEP2025 EMS | 25SEP2025 CMS)
We will analyze the collected data and do the calculations to determine the circumference of the Earth. In addition, students will use a neon sign transformer to view the emission spectrums of various gasses.
NEON CLEAR MYSTERY: THE MOON OF VENUS
Time permitting we will engage the students with our first Neon Clear mini-mystery in which they will attempt to determine if Venus does or does not have a moon.
